Welcome to my life. I'll post what I see fit here
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
was a bad day
I love browsing the galleries on this site. John Shuker is one of the best and most competitively priced luthiers in the UK. From what I can gather he can build you a Jazz or a P or anything else for that matter, cheaper than fender, better than fender and to your exact specification. Aslong as you dont mind waiting a year or so for it. Id love to take the plunge but I’m still finding my sound, I will eventually :)
Alot of thought probably went in to this. I cant quite see past Boba Fett dressed like Sherlock Holmes though
The influence behind my latest aquisition. The Oly white, Black, Rosewood P-bass. Not the lifestyle choice.
Im noticing a lot of ‘it’ about recently. I use the word it because words to define what “it” is escape me. I’m quite sure I’m guilty of ‘it’ too, but I think being aware of it is the start of the solution. To sum ‘it’ up in less then a paragraph is going to be hard so forgive me if I ramble.
It is everywhere you look, it’s on Televison, it is in every place of work, every city, every establishment, anywhere and everywhere there are people, it resides behind their eyes, deep inside what makes people people. It is fundamentally an inherent problem with modern life. A phenomenon if you will. It has probably been happening throughout history, but I cant get past my over romanticized view of the past, the good ole days, and the fact that I didn’t see it so therefore as far as I know it didn’t happen. In simple terms ‘it’ is problem people have that we are not willing to accept responsibility for their own actions or more notably mistakes.
It is easy to see why this happens, we learn in childhood that it is a lot easier to blame someone else than to accept responsibility for what in many cases is something very trivial , the problem is that in most cases we never grow out of this. We don’t realise that this is in fact a ridiculous way to live. We never learn that mistakes are nothing to be ashamed of, they are a fact of life that everyone has to live with, and the only way most people learn. I think if we could admit this without being ashamed of what other people might think we would be better people.
The bottom line is that learning from mistakes is an important part of maturing. Someone once said something along the lines of “It’s not the mistakes a man makes that define him, it is what he learns from them” It was probably worded much better than that but everything you need is there. If you still seek solace in this area simply type these three words “The Wild Rover” into You Tube, You will find an Irish (or possibly Scottish) folk song which tells the tale of a drunk learning the error of his ways and going back to his parents for a second chance. We stand to learn alot from the lovable rouge sort of charector depicted here. Have a think about what it might be and learn from his fictitious mistakes, or by all means make your own just be damn sure you learn something from every one you make.
